Besides Murals, there are many other references to Art in El Barrio.

Mosaics... Galleries... and anything else you can imagine.

The pictures above depict Mosaics found at the 110st Subway Station at Lexington Avenue.

They all show the friendly and cheerful side of the Barrio. There is music and dancing that unites the neighborhood, stores that everyone is familiar with, sports and family are also depicted as a famous aspect of East Harlem.

There are also numerous galleries located throughout the neighborhood. Amongst the many artists in East Harlem, many left during the housing abandonment in the the 1970s. Many returned to bring art and life into the neighborhood where many of the artists grew up in.

They turned many deteriorating buildings into art spaces and brought many people to East Harlem because of the enriched cultural life that they brought into El Barrio.

Besides galleries, there are also various art projects located throughout the neighborhood that uses art to unify and beautify the area. An example would be a sculpturan installation on the exterior wall of P.S. 72 in East Harlem.
